I'm looking to make a text counter in JS, for the occasional server that I manage without SSI (or PHP/ASP in a few cases) . I am looking for a method to write and read the hitcount to an external file. I have heard rumors about Server-Side JavaScripting, but havent been able to get any of it to work, and I am very fuzzy on my ActiveX.

Anybody have a clue how to set this up?

I've asked this same question a few other places, and it seems that what I am trying to do here is impossible.

oh well, i'll just have to go to plan B
