Hi guys,

I have been using php and mysql for a while now and became quite good in those two, but whilst using Flash a bit as well came to an idea to make a flash based chatting interface

now, as I understand it, I'm dealing with a Flash remoting here

I'm aware of flash and XML, it's pretty well described inside the flash help, but what I would want to do is use php as this is possible as well and I'm not all that into taking on every stuff that comes along (I'm onto XML now, but still at the start)

for those you don't know there are some interesting things at
http://www.amfphp.org/
and it's basically
An Open-Source Alternative for Flash Remoting

I'm onto that stuff right now, but was thinking, if you guys had other alternatives as well

Has someone perhaps done anything similar already

thanks,

Airnine

Man...chatting in Flash takes a LOT of coding. More XML than any I believe... I know there is a book that goes over instant messenging in Flash, but I don't know that it is what you are looking for. Something like "Advanced Programs in Flash MX" or somethin. Has a green cover, that's all I know. :)

i think you might be referring to "Actionscript: The Definitive Guide" (i have that book and it has a green cover :) ).

ya, making a chatroom in flash using php/xml is extremely difficult and proccessor-intensive. why don't you just use the flashcom server? a great example of it is at http://www.teknision.com

Ive seen some samples of Flash Chatrooms on www.flashkit.com so look there, and you might find something useful.
