windows vs linux

windows vs linux


Does anyone know the market share of these two operating systems in regard to servers online.
Im thinking linux is bigger but I maybe wrong.

Looking at netcraft web server survey:

Apache 68.83 %
Microsoft 20.85 %
I think it's safe to assume that around 95% if not more of apache servers are run on varieties of unix (linux,bsd etc) so Unix market share would be around 60 to 65 % while Windows around 20 to 25%

i've got two works stations: Xp and Suse 9.3.

i love suse. it's great to be free of macromedia and microsoft and i feel i have a closer relationship with those who build the operating system and actually do the work. i know that sentence doesn't make sense...

i think the apache/iis figures are accurate but regular mum and dad users are almost all using windows.

One more vote for Linux

Another vote for Linux as server.
It is much more stable thae Windows. Slackware is my favorite distibution, and I setup all manually in command line, as thatway I have full control of Linux.
