    unformatted text

    I'm looking for a way to display unformatted text on my website. I want all html tags to render as plain text.

    the <pre> tags dont do the job, because the tags inside are rendered.

    any ideas?
    thats right, I am the webmaster.

    You can't. You must replace < and > with &alt; and &gt;

    I use the replace feature in Microsoft word. That comes in very handy for stuff like that!

    Dreamweaver is tricky as heck to use, but I love how it handles the CSS stylesheets. It's slowly getting easier to use!

    Textpad 4 is what I use the most, mainly because it loads in about 1 second (dreamweaver takes like 10-15) and has all you really need to code like line numbers and syntax highlighting.

    WYSIWYG Editors like Dreamweaver aren't really good at times. They can mess up the whole layout. You can do some things with notepad that don't work with Dreamweaver (well Dreamweaver screws it up).

    I used to use Textpad a little.. but it screwed up along with half the stuff on my comp so I was forced to use NotePad again.

    I use Crimson Editor - a great freeware text editor available at tucows.

    I also use Dreamweaver but once I have a template i just use a text editor.
