    Promote yourself... properly!

I've been searching long and hard for a site that will let me submit my sites to many search engines AND directories successfully and properly for free. I've finally stumbled upon the site I've been searching long and hard for: http://selfpromotion.com/ .Not only will they submit your site to many SE's and directories, but will also tell you the status of your submission. Sign up today for a free trial, you won't regret it!

I'll check it out. It seems promising. How much does it cost after the free trial?

Nice find, but for those of you that use cPanel as your control panel, it has a search engine submitting feature that submits to the following:
    AllTheWeb
    DirectHit
    Google
    HotBot
    Lycos
    MixCat
    WebmasterLingo.com Team

He asks for donations after the trial, I think it was around $5.

just a note, if you submit your site to a load of search engines...most engines will penalize you and bring you down in your listing...maybe even banning your website - i've seen it happen.

Everything is already figured out with SelfPromotion, it's a great system, I doubt those things will happen Revenant.

I am pretty sure that you don't have to submit to Google anymore. They will spider your page without your request.

tru, but, if you wanna become a marketing pro for search engines solo, patience will most likely always be required.

    All I know is this:

I have NEVER submitted any of my pages to a SE and even with that, if you type in "Chris Bartlett" without quotes into Google, the 2nd and 3rd entries are for my site!

In addition, if you type "Loeun Lun", the site I have set up for his case is number ONE! All this without so much as ever talking to ANY SE.

I have nothing but respect for SelfPromotion. The owner writes in
    a very lucid style.

There is one thing that troubles me:

How would you know what directories and SE's to submit? The ones
    you haven't before?

    Thanks!

Fastest way to get submitted is to
    1. Purchase sponsored links in google
    2. Link from a page already listed
    3. Create good content and send out a few emails to other similar sites. If your site is good enough you will get links.
    4. Create a blog.
    5. Submit using their form
    6. Pimp your site in your signature on sites like these.

For what it is worth (free advice) most search engine sites are worthless. Get listed in the big 4 and 90% of your searches are covered. Big 4 are Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL.

I use a network of personal sites to promote my business sites. I do this by creating links to other sites using a site map that is more for search engine spidiering than helping my website visitors.

If you have a decent site with correct coding and you are having problems getting listed maybe the web community isn't your thing.

This fact is very true. I don't recommend you go to every little search engine and submit your site there. It will be a waste of time. Most traffic is from the above search engines.

Ditto! Even more importantly, get into MSN because it is the default SE in many desktops. I get 85% of my SE traffic from MSN.

I never thought of it that way, but now that I realize it, I should be getting more into MSN. I get less than 10% of traffic from MSN, mostly from Google still. Do you have any tactics on how to optimize your site for MSN?
