    Resolution you design for.

What size resolution do you design for?

    I aim mainly for 1024x768.

I design on 1024x768, so that's sometimes what I design for. Most of the time I try to optimize my pages for all dimensions.

I design on 1600x1200 resolution. But most people use 1024x768 so that's what I optimize for.

I shoot for 800x600. 640x480 is fairly uncommon these days, I believe, but 800x600 is still pretty common. Things will still be fine on higher resolutions.

I try to go for 800x600 but still make it full screen for all the other resolutions

instead of using values for column widths I use percents

    I agree with fabulous.

There is nothing more annoying than a site that scrolls horizontally at 800X600 or only takes up half the screen at 1024X768 - That just drives me crazy!

I go for 800x600 screen resolution. 1024x768 screen resolution on my computer is too small.

The site needs not to have a horizontal scroll bar at 800X600.

I'd rather have too much white space at 1024X768 than have a horizontal scroll bar.

That having been said, I typically make sure my site uses tables that are set to 100%.

I don't use percentages very often. I generally make the designs like 750 pixels wide, which should still fit on most 800x600 resolution screens. But I don't really worry too much about it. heh. Like I said, mostly aim for 1024x768, but I still do want it to be easily viewable on 800x600. And I couldn't care less about 640x480.

16x12? Doesn't that make some sites unreadable? What size is your monitor?

I typically use 1024X768 on my desktop (17" monitor) but 800X600 when I'm on my laptop (which is rare anymore).

    Yeah. . I guess it's unanimous. 1024X768 wins, haha. Yeah, that's what I use.
