Tutorial : Fun with gradients for nubs :)

Well below I have demonstrated something you can do with the gradient tool.

These tips are more geared for the beginner and will hopefully make it look like you know what you're doing

    1) Create a rectangle and use black as foreground, and a very dark grey has the background.

First fill the box from the top to the bottom

Make sure the rectangle is still selected

Then Select > Modify > Contract, pick a few pixels (2-4).

Then fill in the gradient, however this time go from the bottom to the top

As you can see you get a nice bezeled effect.

    2) Same thing as #1 however I went from top left to bottom right, then bottom right to top left.

    3) Very dark grey = foreground
    white = background

Make a very small rectangular selection

    gradient it

    Contract it by a pixel

    opposite side gradient.

gives a nice little bezeled tube effect

    4) this is just sort of an example of where you can use these bezels for when making websites.

It utilizes the above techniques to show that they can be used in real world application.

heres a little template i just made with using only gradients and as you can see it aint half bad

if anyone wants to buy this template I'll let it go for 5 dollars

EDIT: oh yeah some of you may not be fond with the black and white just use different colours when making the gradients, or try this tip.

Save my template and open it with photoshop

    Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

select colourize, and drag the sliders and make it any colour u want
