    Making your site pda friendly

    Hello,

    I hope someone here can help me.

    I would like to make my site pda friendly, I've seen some sites that switch to a specific folder on the server, when being viewed from a pda.

    Example:

    Normal site: www.mysite.com

    When being viewed from pda directs you to: www.mysite.com/pda

    How would I do that?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    You can go about this several ways.

    One way is to use a server-side scripting language on your main page and have it redirect.

    How it works :
    Visitor goes to site
    Script on your site grabs the name of the user-agent the visitor is using. (MS Internet Explorer, Mozilla, PDA browsers, etc ...) and if it sees that the user-agent name belongs to a pda, it will send it to the pda directory.

    Or you can try creating a css style sheet for PDA's and one for regular users. I think this would be much easier.

    Example:
    HTML Code:
    <link type="text/css" media="handheld" href="the_path_to_pda_css" />
    <link type="text/css" media="screen" href="the_path_to_screen_css" />
    Well, hope this helps.

    Hey thanks very much for the info.

    By using the code you provided, how does the server (or script) know that someone is browsing from a pda?
